Every woman knows that a great purse can turn an otherwise ordinary ensemble into extraordinarily stylish haute couture. These “little touches” we add to our wardrobe are merely reflections of our personality, defining who we are to those we encounter. Imagine marrying your desire to be a trend-setting fashion rock star with your self-imposed obligation to be “green,” by making an eco-friendly, fashion statement. Killing two birds with one stone, eh? Surely, most people imagine “green” accessories as potato sack-like textile atrocities; however, EcoPurse’s Cheryl Herberg sought to redefine the notion that eco-friendly wasn’t fashion-friendly. Her purse designs are innovative and cutting-edge, with the most intriguing attribute being the materials used to assemble these delightful totes—recycled rubber tires and lawn chairs, among other reusable goods. “It’s no longer acceptable to use exotic materials that cause harm to the environment,” says Herberg. Each of 12 dynamic, signature designs is handcrafted and christened after a specific car model, making any woman carrying one feel unique. If Cheryl’s completed designs aren’t already head-turners, she’s working on one with a solar panel capable of charging your iPod, cell phone, etc. Wouldn’t that be a great asset to anyone’s wardrobe? Not only is her mission to provide the public with “chic and green” goods, but a portion of purse profits go into her foundation to aid environmental causes. Cheryl plans to unveil her creations at the official launch on July 11 at Beta Nightclub. Indeed, boasting one of her EcoPurses will make everyone else “green” with envy.
