For me the parallels that art can draw are cutting, relevant and just damn entertaining to bear witness to. So as RMCAD finishes staging its newest exhibit, the third in a series aptly titled “Paralleled”, and throws its doors open to its students and public alike, I find my interest profoundly piqued.

Hindsight: Theatre du Vaudeville

To be fair, this was the first time I’ve seen live vaudeville and only the second time I had a clown bring me Guinness without making me cry. I found the plot as described above to be lost somewhere betwixt the contortionist, the stilt walkers, the magician and the belly dancer, however each and every one of the performers did a superb job in displaying their craft in front of a crowd of enthusiastic patrons.

The story centers around a couple who has supposedly fallen in love, having only interacted once or twice in the flesh. FedEx ends up delivering the engagement ring. As you can probably imagine, the premise is ripe for hilarity of all stripes.
