Each holiday season, zoo employees—beast masters, if you will—snake oodles of environmentally-friendly LED (light-emitting diodes) strands across some 38 acres.

Milk is absolutely delicious. Gus Van Sant’s (Drugstore Cowboy, My Own Private Idaho) biopic on the first ever openly gay politician, Milk is a must-see film (especially considering homophobic legislation is still a hot button issue two full decades later). Assassinated San Francisco City Supervisor Harvey Milk is literally channeled by Sean Penn. Who knew Madonna’s ex-hubby had it in him?

For me the parallels that art can draw are cutting, relevant and just damn entertaining to bear witness to. So as RMCAD finishes staging its newest exhibit, the third in a series aptly titled “Paralleled”, and throws its doors open to its students and public alike, I find my interest profoundly piqued.

The homegrown artist should know, having created work and performed live painting for some of Denver's most roaring clubs, including Lotus and, most recently, Beta Nightclub. The commission for Beta particularly provided Apodaca the opportunity to ignite the spontaneity of his process to the extreme.
