Balance is something all of us human-types strive for. A balance of work and play; of friends and family; a balanced diet and even a balance of politics. And, if you're a dance music connoisseur, Balance is the mix series to search out. Featuring players like Desyn Masiello, Paolo Mojo, and Jimmy Van M, the Balance series seems to be an exclusive club for the best and brightest in the DJ world.

Canadian DJ/Producer Luke Fair takes the helm on the newest release, Balance 011, and sails through two discs of housey goodness. Funky, techy, deep, progressive; it's all here, and in keeping with his trademark style, Luke tweaks and customizes the tracks to breathe that extra bit of creativity into the mix.

Disc 1 starts off with some curiously sinister melodies and moves into a deep and funky vibe early on. The mix works it's way through some chill grooves and out of the safe-zone about midway through; it is rounded out nicely with a level of depth and warmth most jocks try for but never find.  Disc 2 follows up with more of everything - more attitude, more energy, and more danger. This set is all groovin' tech- and tribal-house sounds with a touch of trippiness woven in.

You could say it's a Fair balance of what makes any mix worth listening to - uniqueness, track selection, creativity, mixing, and style. This is easily one of the most inspiring DJ sets of 2007.
