Word Playin’: Henry Rollins
By Image Mag Staff @ 11:15 AM :: 213 Views :: 0 Comments :: Nightlife

In between filming segments, he still trots the globe doing what he calls “talking shows”, basically several hours of alternately hilarious and dramatic storytelling. I caught his most recent stop in the Mile High Club that is Denver, Colorado and it didn’t disappoint, as usual.

Brain Pickin’: Paul van Dyk
By Image Mag Staff @ 6:49 PM :: 468 Views :: 1 Comments :: :: Music: Artist Spotlight

When Image asked me to interview Paul van Dyk, I honestly wasn't sure I was up to the task. After all, he is the world's #1 DJ, not to mention one of the most recognized names in the dance music industry and of course an  icon of the electronic culture itself. But as it turns out, he is also one of the most down-to-earth superstars I've had the privilege to talk to.

Glitch Mob Rules: Kraddy’s Sugar
By Image Mag Staff @ 2:35 PM :: 474 Views :: 0 Comments :: Music: Artist Spotlight

Hip hop is dead, according to Nas.  And while there’s a sh!+ ton of evidence to support his thesis, there’s a collective of necrophiliacs in California hell-bent on bringing it back from the grave.  Glitch Mob is their name and “glitch hop” is their game.

Brain Pickin': Trentemøller
By Orange Peel Moses @ 12:24 PM :: 289 Views :: 0 Comments :: Music: Artist Spotlight

"Genius," "sexy," "sultry," "unreal" and "visionary" are just a handful of the adjectives that have been employed to describe his music by well-informed members of the press. Critical acclaim of that caliber often has a way of inflating the eager egos of other more pretentious artists, yet Trentemøller remains humble to the core. It is disposition that suits him well, despite the rather extraordinary palette of heart-wrenching and motion-compelling magic at his fingertips.

Stage Advice: Trailer Park The Musical
By Image Mag Staff @ 10:54 AM :: 206 Views :: 0 Comments :: Events

I know, I know, sniffing is a gateway to huffing.  That, however, is a risk I was willing to take.  It was a small price to pay to pay homage to all those who made The Great American Trailer Park Musical possible, especially the producers who themselves risked their collective @$$ to extend the show’s Denver run.

CD Report Card: Paul van Dyk: In Between
By Image Mag Staff @ 10:53 AM :: 288 Views :: 0 Comments :: Music: Reviews

His name is synonomous with trance, and he is recognized in both the underground dance music scene and the commercial pop industry.  Yes, he is the one that even other DJs look up to. His list of acheivements would put OJ's rap sheet to shame.

Huggin’ the Curves: Ed Hardy
By Image Mag Staff @ 11:22 AM :: 333 Views :: 0 Comments :: Style

Ed Hardy, an eponym for tattoo artist Don Ed Hardy; and the trademark—a fusion of the motorcycle and tattoo culture with hip-Hollywood vintage fashions—tenders a distinguishable flair. These unique designs, by Christian Audigier, are inspired by the postmodern tattoo imagery of Don Ed Hardy, the San Francisco-based “godfather of modern tattoo.

Role Models: Mrs. US Globe 2007
By Image Mag Staff @ 11:57 PM :: 400 Views :: 2 Comments :: :: Style

When most think about the world of pageants, catty girls, overzealous mothers and world peace come to mind.  Sitting next to Mrs. U.S. Globe 2007, Janelle Spahn, was anything but a regular pageant girl experience. For one, Spahn is no girl; she’s a 27-year-old mother of two young girls and a devoted wife to her husband Michael for the last seven years.

By Image Mag Staff @ 11:53 PM :: 315 Views :: 0 Comments :: Nightlife, Events

Roulier and Sabo—AKA DJs B-Rad & Sabotage or Manufactured Superstars, collectively--relish in such shameless set programming behavior.  After all, they already rule the global electronica food chain as the promotional muscle and marketing department behind Beatport.com.

Tappin’ that Axe: Interpol
By Image Mag Staff @ 11:30 PM :: 188 Views :: 0 Comments :: Music: Artist Spotlight

Interpol has found an extremely comfortable niche for themselves over the years. They first garnered critical acclaim with Turn on the Bright Lights. Commercial fame followed suit with the entrance of their second full-length album, Antics, all this while staying in the relative safe confines of an independent record label, Matador.

Board Couture: Hard Core Action
By Image Mag Staff @ 11:15 PM :: 471 Views :: 0 Comments :: Sports, Style

The girls swore to change this stalemate. So they started a website bringing together the best apparel and gear meeting the ‘fashion and function’ philosophy for skate, ski, snow, surf and wake. But stopping there would not sate these girls’ appetites, so they added to it an on-line forum for discussion and customer interaction where women could gather to learn more about action sports and fashion.

Fork It: Amuse by Michel @ 5 Degrees
By Image Mag Staff @ 11:10 PM :: 238 Views :: 0 Comments :: Food

A charming reprieve from the rigors of the day, Amuse by Michel provides a low-key, yet sensational atmosphere at a price that nearly defies logic. The term: “affordable elegance” loses its oxymoronic value in this case with Amuse items ranging from $4 per selection to $7 for entrées; it is a value seldom seen in an environment that welcomes the casual diner, while at the same time beckoning those with a more formal temperament.
