Venue Reinvention: Zen
By Orange Peel Moses @ 5:46 PM :: 86 Views :: 0 Comments :: Food, Nightlife
Regular facelifts are practically standard practice for nightclubs that want to stay competitive and relevant in a thriving nightlife market such as our own. DC10, the first joint venue venture from Global Dance Fest partners Kostas Kouremenos and Ha Hau, had a good run, but was definitely due for a makeover. Zen, a stunning fusion of ecological and contemporary Asian elements, is the reincarnated result.

Fork It: Barrons Tavern
By Image Mag Staff @ 12:21 PM :: 172 Views :: 0 Comments :: Food

Quick bites, good drink selections and inviting settings are key. This is something one of Cherry Creek North’s reigning hotspots, Brix (which once inhabited Barrons lease), did well. Now it’s Barron’s turn. It’s something they were all too aware of as the married ownership team began their voyage into the restaurant business.

Pizza the Pie: Marco’s Coal-Fired
By Image Mag Staff @ 11:54 PM :: 353 Views :: 0 Comments :: Food

Is the effort worth the result? You bet your sweet rump it is! Two characteristics that make Neapolitan pizza so special are both in the crust. It should be crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside (not easy for such a thin crust) and Marco’s excels in both with its Hickory wood-cooked version. Dym isn’t about to overshadow his hard work, either.

By Image Mag Staff @ 8:45 AM :: 380 Views :: 0 Comments :: Food

Ten years since they opened the doors of their 6th Avenue location, Little India now has three. Its newest spot on South Downing has become the flagship for Denver’s most beloved Indian restaurant. And as they get ready to celebrate their paper anniversary, we at Image decided it was high time to return to this Denver institution.

Garden Gourmet: Domo

This sign has always piqued my curiosity and one night I turned down that roughly paved road, pleased with my discovery. Underneath the sign exists paradise. Walk through the Japanese gate and you are transported from Colfax traffic to the Japanese countryside.

Cuisine Genius: The Mile High Club
By Image Mag Staff @ 10:33 AM :: 482 Views :: 0 Comments :: Food

Five chefs at the top of their game, five courses and five wines. Five chances, not to prove, but to show 75 of the culinary world’s loudest voices that, “geography alone does not determine a world-class culinary experience.” And although no single location is recognized as a culinary Mecca, the Beard House comes close for the institution that is American cooking.

Fork It: Bruno’s Italian Bistro
By Image Mag Staff @ 9:33 AM :: 554 Views :: 0 Comments :: Food

Open the door and the incredible aroma immediately seduces you. Water trickles over tile on the adjacent wall. Deeply stained wooden chairs encircle tables that are dressed in white. Low lights accent the walls stained the color of sunrise. Two levels divide the dining room with a single step and create secluded dining. I surmise the décor has greatly improved since the late Bruno’s.

Barfly on the Wall: Santa Fe Tequila Co.
By Image Mag Staff @ 3:37 PM :: 432 Views :: 0 Comments :: Food

The SFTC claims its fame by reshaping the classic concept of tequila and tequila-related beverages. Every specialty drink is named after a different slang for LSD, with handles like: Yellow Sunshine, Pink Dragon and Electric Kool-Aid to name a few. It is foolish to assume that you won’t be turned on to a consciousness-expanding dinner

Forkin' It: Pubs & Grub
By Image Mag Staff @ 3:13 PM :: 433 Views :: 0 Comments :: Food, Nightlife

When it comes to all things Eire here in the mile high city, one name comes to mind--John Nallen. And so Nallen’s (the place) stands as a pinnacle part of the ‘Emerald isle’ here in Denver. With tradition a way of life here and a fantastic pub smell (seriously, I love the smell of a good pub, not to be mistaken for the smell of stale beer...)
