2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser
wordplay by Greg Bloom
Deal of the century! When first asked by a curious George, my reply to the price tag query was a shrug of the shoulders with an, "I don't know... $40k - $50k?" I referred to the MSRP sticker given to each journalist for acquiring data on test vehicles for my own knowledge. When I saw the estimate on the FJ Cruiser... INCLUDING all the loaded extras, and it was just a hair over $30k, I thought I was provided the wrong sticker and referred back to the top to confirm the vehicle type. Sure as the day is long... right car, right price! When you get into a ride like this after hearing the hype... how it's "the new Land Cruiser crossed with an H3," you tend to enter with high expectations and will normally be left disappointed. Not the case here.
My birthday, leading into Memorial Day Weekend, was the perfect time to have had the FJ. An overnight musical/camping interlude aside the Colorado River at State Bridge Lodge was the half-way point which led to Snowmass, our furthest destination, where a meeting was held for the event I'm co-hosting up there in September with Kevin Larson.
Sporting the newest gem in the Toyota 4WD family made the camping and recreational part of the trip a piece of cake while the FJ's very unique, dynamic body style and sleek silver coat sprouted fond memories of Twiggy, Buck Rogers' robot companion and turned heads even among the most stubborn of consumers up in the millionaire's playground of the Rockies.
If I were currently in the market, this is honestly an automobile I could buy. I loved it throughout!
