Good lord! It’s been fifteen long years since these brooding vinyl-clad intellectual types put out a new record, but by Christ that shouldn’t stop them from touring, should it? No, really, should it? The first time I saw the Sisters in action it was a hallowed experience. The lighting, the fog machine, the drunken loose women, I still have a hard time describing how cool three barely mobile men and a drum machine can be. The second time was not nearly as inspired. The crowd had dwindled down to half of what they brought in the time before and they condensed all of their best material into a protracted gothic medley of sorts. This time, though, the venue is smaller, Ogden vs. Fillmore, who will win in the battle for intimate setting? My money is literally riding on the Ogden, but I also got a gut feeling that this show will be top shelf. The Sisters are due, they’ve still got a lot of love to give and they’re hungry for attention and we’ll give it to em’ just so long as they supply our lungs with plenty of dry ice vapor.
