‘Tambourines and Tight Pants’ seemed to be the theme of the night Friday at the Bluebird Theater. Luckily, circulation wasn’t cut off to the vocal chords of the singers in the four bands who performed. From The Morning Light’s barefoot singer and keyboard player to Steel Train’s two drum sets and audience-involving songs to The Cab’s ’NSync-inspired mic check and amazingly gifted lead singer to The Hush Sound’s lamp-lit keyboard intro and two-song encore, there was no shortage of talent… or tambourine.
The Hush Sound has loud and loyal fans, some of whom were a bit intoxicated by the time the band took the stage. They played each song with enthusiasm as each band member’s voice echoed around the crowded theater. I was impressed when the drummer stepped up and took the mic while one of the lead singers took a seat and manned the drums. Quite the versatile band.
In short, bands rocked, t-shirts were bought, and beer was consumed… it was a good night.
