wordplay: DJ Elroy

When Colorado club culture is discussed, Denver is considered the epicenter of the state’s dance music scene. While it most certainly is the hub of activity it is by no means the only city on the Front Range to boast quality DJs.

Fort Collins is home to a small but loyal following of electronica enthusiasts, and it’s here that I was handed a copy of Release, the newest offering from local label Beehive Productions. Crafted by DJ Golden B, this mix is a unique blend of deep house and progressive stirred up with glitchy breakbeats. Warm and sultry sounds are arranged to lead the listener on a subtle journey through audio heaven.

The disc is a refreshing break from the stale electro sound that seems to be living in the majority of record bags these days. Epic ambiance and techy undercurrents add flavor to an already great mix, and Goldy has a knack for dropping the right track at the right time. The vibe is decidedly on the chill tip, perfect for a lounge or after-hours session.
