Although the tenants of another slightly more famous colorless home deserve pink slips, the owners, management and staff of our own mile high White House are actually doing their jobs. Home to the largest patio in Denver, which is more like a mini-amphitheater with patio furniture for a seating guide, The White House Lounge strives to be one of the more interesting places to sprawl out this summer and be entertained. On Sunday afternoons, they will be hosting DJs and live music from noon until close. With six bars, two of which are designated Margarita bars, a huge BBQ grill, a stage bursting with new sound equipment, and a dog walk…the only question is, what’s the lineup? According to the musical director, Pat Hanson (AKA DJ Debut), they plan on hosting a variety of local talent, to be announced as the summer draws closer. Owners Steve Bedingo and Soung Kang mentioned they may also allow customers to bring their own iPods on the occasional Sunday afternoon to plug into the PA. So, where can I hook up DJ iPod and get a tan? In fact, girls who tan on the patio on Sundays can also enjoy free mimosas from noon until 4 p.m.

If interviewing this vivacious group, Bedingo, Kang, and Hanson is any indication of how much fun hanging out at the White House will be, then turn your fun meter up to ten, because I bet you have a shot at some of your best ’07 summer memories at The White House. For every question I asked owner Bedingo about their upcoming summer of events, every answer invariably came back to water balloon fights; that quite possibly will find Bedingo dressed in black ‘n’ whites refereeing and dodging big splashes, all summer long.

“I just want to come up with the silliest, most bizarre things to do so that I can promote them,” says Bedingo, “because when I hang out at a bar, it is because it’s fun. And that is what we are going for here.”

Bedingo plans to also introduce East Coast drinking games, like beer pong, so stay tuned! The hilarity just did not stop through out our hour long interview, as we were continuously interrupted by various friends of theirs playing some kind of gag on them. Outside of daily drink specials and that they will validate your Rockies ticket with a free domestic beer if you bring it in the day of the game, there are a lot of things they have planned that I am not allowed to talk about, yet. What you can count on is that they are bringing in some of the hottest local entertainment, from local bands to DJs, and that nothing will ever be the same from one night to the next. With being so new, The White House Lounge is not ready to get pigeonholed for one type of entertainment. Feel free to stop by the bar with your promotion ideas as they say they are open to working with any promoter who will approach them, saying, “Either it will work or it won’t.”
